Sebastien Reuzé, biography, install shots, exhibitions, artworks, photographies
Sébastien Reuzé is a French artist, born in 1970, currently living and working in Brussels, Belgium. He received his Diploma from Ecole Nationale des Arts Visuels de La Cambre, Brussels, Belgium in 1997.
Reuzé’s work focuses on different artistic mediums and their relation to selected contemporary myths that have in common a reflection on time, its effects, its nature and its implications. Although most of Reuzé’s corpus is photographic, it also extends to the production of sculptural and editorial objects, as well as structural interventions on the display devices of his works. In his practice, he articulates the process of constant renewal of supports, formats, techniques, which are feeding an exaltation of the subjective and internalized potential of everyday life and natural scenery. Reuzé has a special relationship with colour; he is colour-blind and finds it difficult to distinguish magenta, a hue that dominates his work. He experiments with colour in every stage of the process: from the recording through to the presentation. In the darkroom, the photographic paper is manipulated, set on fire or torn into pieces. Reuzé shows us the essence of what photography is: light striking paper. The photographic object’s third, physical dimension is made tangible.
