Présentation of  Crash Box project by Anne-Valérie Gasc

Crash Box at the Windsor Hotel

Since the mid-2000s, Anne-Valérie Gasc has been developing strategies of destruction intended to provoke the shaking of the real, to question the irremovable, the perennial, the established. Whether by explosives, sound waves, hydraulic sabotage, weakening structures or flashover … each project designed by the artist aims to cause a tipping point, a break point. According to her, it is in these interstices of doubt that art can happen.

On the occasion of Caméra Caméra, the gallery is pleased to present its Crash box project. Presented for the first time in 2013, at the CCC in Tours, on the occasion of the monographic exhibition “Decazeville / 2012.08.01 / 11: 00: 00”, Crash box brings together video and photographic works that Anne-Valérie Gasc realizes. thanks to a capture device invented to film blasts of building with explosive.

The artist has chosen the room “Aztec” whose fresco tells the planned destruction of the world, scheduled for December 21, 2012.

The artist puts in tension this prediction, obsolete, with the test of the collapse of our present.

She takes a position in a trench war between fantasy and reality, belief and presence, narrative figuration and conceptual art.

With Crash box, Anne-Valérie Gasc takes the viewer to a point of desertion. She offers him a moment of letting go, the only open attitude to the world still possible today.
