Fabrique d'un épuisement: Solo show by Anne-Valérie Gasc

Overview

The spectacle of a robot-printer disappears in favor of the contemplative panorama of crystalline dunes.

What can art do in the face of the automation of technical systems and the autonomy of their digital devices? Housed in the failures of programming, mechanical breakdowns and the limits of artificial intelligence, it happens independently of all anticipation and control in what makes ruin, landscape and poetry. From then on, the spectacle of a robot-printer disappears in favor of the contemplative panorama of crystalline dunes. And the reading of the work's logbook, which recounts the daily struggle to make the machine work, sounds like the river novel of a never-ending search.

The Michel Journiac and UN-SPACED galleries are pleased to invite you to come and discover Anne-Valérie Gasc's monographic exhibition: Fabrique d'un épuisement, curated by Dominique Blais, at Galerie Michel Journiac, tomorrow from 2 to 6 pm.

The exhibition is a continuation of the research work developed by the artist in recent years. Initiated during the exhibition Les larmes du Prince at the Galerie Gourvennec-Ogor in Marseille (2016), this research was then continued under the curatorship of Emmanuelle Chiappone-Piriou on the occasion of the exhibition Vitrifications at the Tanneries d'Amilly art center (2019).

Fabrique d'un épuisement is thus part of the continuity of a long-term work and proposes to discover, today, a new work: a "single machine", an independent robotic sculpture, the fruit of this research.

Anne-Valérie Gasc, Dominique Blais and Hugues Albes-Nicoux, will be delighted to welcome you tomorrow, January 26, 2021 to discover this exhibition which will run until March 12, 2021.

While waiting to meet you there, we invite you to find the artist on the video Fabrique d'un épuisement, directed by Vincent Pajot for Documents d'artistes PACA (2020).
