Communiqué de presse

On the occasion of Art Rotterdam 2023, UN-SPACED is pleased to present a selection of recent or exclusive works by the artists EVOL, Tulio Pinto and Robin Wen.

Three contemporary and singular formal writings, which will share the stand space in three distinct sections.
While Evol will define, with his stencil compositions, an urban architectural framework, Tulio Pinto will punctuate the stand with his volume sculptures. For his first participation one a major Art Fair, the young promising painter Robin Wen will then populate the space with painted and drawn human figures representing, in the manner of the Flemish masters, a disillusioned and party-going youth.

The gallery team will be delighted to welcome you ont he Booth N°58 of the next art Rotterdam edition.

 

EVOL (DE, 1970)

Tore Rinkveld aka Evol, is a German artist, born in 1972. He currently lives and works between Berlin, Germany and Moscow, Russia. He completed his education at Kuopio Acadamy of Arts and Crafts, Finland in 2000 and at HFG Schwäbisch Gmünd, Germany in 2001.

The stencil compositions of EVOL represent the facades of popular buildings inherited from the communist utopia. The artist chooses cardboard for its stigma, such as logos, adhesive marks and inscriptions, on which he paints his graphic architectural motifs in successive layers. With a modified scale, these distinctive signs become graffiti and compose the patina of these miniature constructions.

Tulio Pinto (BRA, 1974)

Tulio Pinto is a Brazilian artist, born in 1974 and he currently lives and works in Porto Alegre, Brazil. He graduated in 2009 from UFRGS - Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul with a degree in visual arts, specialising in sculpture.

Tulio Pintocreates his sculptures by forcing materials to cohabit. He marks the still warm and malleable blown glass with steel bars that leave their imprints. The glass retains its shape as it freezes, creating a real complicity between the materials. The works are then assembled and held in balance by the combination of their mass and resistance and gravity.

Robin Wen (FR, 1994)

Robin Wen lives and works in Brussels. Graduated of La Cambre, he is the winner of the 2018 Woluwe-Saint-Pierre Arts Prize for Drawing and Painting, The artist's pictorial practice explores the world of the Free Party through its lifestyle, that of a youth in search of freedom. An initially documentary approach. Using her personal archives or objects from her daily life, Robin Wen deals with the fragility and violence of this milieu with strength and sensitivity.

His paintings have become "anthropological objects" and bear witness to a universe that oscillates between the fantastic and the realistic. This practice is part of the tradition of genre painting, which the artist hijacks and reappropriates.
