Block print BP05 (Wheel of Fortune): Discover the latest print by EVOL

  • The fith episode of the Blockprint serie : 'Wheel of fortune'

In 2014 EVOL was invited by the curator Hugo Vitrani to join the Lasco Project where selected Graffiti artists were asked to paint the inner belly of Palais de Tokyo (the structural and technical parts of the museum, inaccessible to the public).

Two of his interventions nonetheless happened to be in the public part of the museum, and remain to be so since (or 'ever since'?!).

One is the mural "Wheel of Fortune", where the egalitarian facades of a collapsed socialist utopia ironically meet a TV gameshow set-up, showing a puzzle of "Home Sweet Home" in german language, which - in its half solved state - talks of a "rough home" instead.

EVOL is now returning to Paris with his monographic exhibition "Façade Sociale", presenting his most recent artworks. On the occasion he also created a new limited edition of the BlockPrint series, referencing the mural at Palais de Tokyo. Technically challenging hence made as 9 colour screenprint on recycled grey card as an numbered edition of 120. Each sheet is manually pre textured.

The print also kept the half-buffed remainings of a SAEIO tag on the original wall to commemorate this highly innovative and influential parisian artist who unfortunately died in 2017. R.I.P.
